For the first time, Kate will question whether fighting for a genetically advanced world is worth it. If she can reveal the truth hidden beneath her drastically shifting reality.

Before they steal her ability to remember.

Editorial Reviews

CIPPA EVVY Award Winner: 1st Place in Science FIction

"A gripping story, thoughtfully written and very much character-led. A Red Ribbon Winner and highly recommended." -The Wishing Shelf Awards

"The ending really threw me for a loop and I will be reading the next book in the series to find out what happens! She hooked me!" -Angela Larkin, co-author of Beyond and Before

"I've been a voracious reader my entire life. I can't remember reading anything that tops these. Characters and situations that make sense, a pace that is perfect. I don't know what more to say. Read her books, you won't be disappointed." - Goodreads Review

Tier 1 is not the usual dystopian book. it is a clean read, for one thing, and it is a lot more complex than many in the genre. It took me a bit more to get into it, as there is a lot about genetics, but once I did, I was totally hooked. Well-intentioned, caring people stuck in a gut-wrenchingly impossible situation make for a riveting read. I am eager to read Book 2 in the series now. - Goodreads Review

Thoroughly Enjoyable!

I thoroughly enjoyed living in this post apocalyptic society alongside these complex characters. Drawn in from the first few pages to the everyday life of a culture that barely survived "the crisis", the author paints a new reality that is artfully unfolded layer upon layer. Once immersed, we gradually start to see cracks in the "perfect" society.Hundreds of years in the future we cruise the ups and downs as our characters struggle with some of society's most pervasive ethical conundrums in very real and tender ways.I loved the ride! Can't wait for the next round of twists and turns!

An excellent read

Tier 1 by Cindy GundersonIn a post-apocalyptic world, with the population decimated by a virus. Berg Genetics has allocated the populous into 3 tiers according to their genetic purity, with Tier 1 receiving the majority of available resources. Kate is ‘paired’ with Eric and they have 2 children. Their Tier 1 life is idyllic until the mysterious ‘Committee’ that runs the world makes a decision that will rip their lives apart. This book is nothing short of superb. The world-building, particularly, is well-handled and subtle without resorting to the usual large dollops of exposition. The characters are well rounded and believable.I look forward to reading the next in the series.

Wow! This novel was so well-written! It is totally possible to see something like this playing out in the future. The character development was fantastic. The storyline unfolded smoothly and kept my interest the entire time.
