Can the new doctor next door save Avery from a broken heart?

ER doctor David Daniels thinks his neighbor, Avery, is way out of his league. But chemistry is chemistry, and he's pretty sure they have some. If only she wasn't dating someone else . . .

Avery Middleton thinks her neighbor is cute in a dorky brother kind of way. But the more she gets to know him, he seems a little less like a brother and a lot more like the sexy doctor next door. If not for her recently rekindled relationship with a boyfriend from the past, she might give the doctor a second look.

When David learns something incriminating about Avery's boyfriend, he's forced to decide: play it safe, or risk his friendship with Avery and possibly his career to tell her the truth.

Will the sparks between David and Avery be enough to turn their friendship into more?

I enjoyed this story, though it was far from perfect. I think if David hadn't been so adorable, I would not have liked it nearly as much. There need to be more rom-com novels with guileless, dorky heroes cuz they're seriously the best. However, I did not like Avery very much. Everyone she knows is telling her that her ex is bad news, she even has a bad feeling in her gut but ignores all of that for "Maybe he's changed!" She knows David likes her, yet continues to string him along even though she's got a boyfriend and has repeatedly said she isn't interested in him. Then he gives her that sweet letter and she ignores him for a whole month. I was really hoping (though I knew it wouldn't happen) that he'd have found someone else when she finally decided to tell him that she loved him and he'd tell her to go pound sand so she could feel what she'd been doing to him all along.Ok, rant over. All in all, I did like the book. I've read all but one in this series (the last of which I'll be starting soon) and this was probably my second favorite so far. "Just One Word" spoke to my soul and did things to me that I'm still reeling from. LOVED that book!My last comment is that, so far, none of these have been what I would consider comedy. A mildly entertaining moment here and there but that's about it.

I wish you were able to give half stars because while I didn't love this book, i did like it. It was missing something for me that I can't really put my finger on. The characters were well developed, but each did things that didn't sit right with me. David's openness and awkwardness were refreshing, but he also had some really creepy behavior. Avery was a little slow on the uptake and her going from clearly telling the reader she wasn't in love to deciding that she was right after that didn't sit right with me. It didn't feel authentic. The epilogue was nice.

I enjoyed this sweet story. David and his adorable awkwardness was such a fun thing in a character. Avery is sweet but so very confused about her feelings. Can they find their way to each other? This is a fantastic, sweet and swoony story that I recommend.

Another excellent romance in this excellent series by Brenna Jacobs

[ORIGINALLY TITLED "D IS FOR DOCTOR" NOW RETITLED AS "DREAMING OF THE NEXT DOOR DOC"]I loved David & his awkwardness. I have all too often been so single-mindedly focused that I did or said something cringeworthy without realizing it.And I totally sympathized with Avery, too. Having an ex who dumped you come back expressing regrets & apologies is a temptation just in itself.I especially enjoyed the way all of David's friends were so protective of him. Avery's too, but David's naive openness made him so vulnerable. The secondary characters really enhanced the story. For all that her part is so brief, I thought Haley was an awesome side character - I hope we'll get to see her happily-ever-after in the next book or two.*Clean romance level: passionate kisses
