He's her biggest competition. She's his greatest temptation.

Ruth Haynes is excited to start another Christmas season selling cookies from her store, Sugar Lips Cookie Company, on Old Main Street in Willow Falls. Everything is shaping up for her to have another successful year—that is until competition comes to town in the form of Mason Baker, the guy who broke her heart in high school. When he opens a chocolate store next door, her cookie business starts to crumble. Still, she can’t help but notice that he’s even more attractive and charming now, and no doubt he still gets everything he wants in life. Too bad he’s never wanted her.

Mason has come back to his hometown to open his very own business selling chocolate after studying under world-class chocolatiers in Europe. He risked everything he has on this new venture so he can't afford any distractions, especially from Ruth, who is definitely all grown up. Totally distracted by her beauty and talent, he can’t help but try to break down her defenses. Just when she begins to open up, however, his decision to bid against her for the catering job her business depends on threatens to ruin everything. To find true success, Ruth and Mason must let go of everything they thought they wanted and create a life that’s truly sweet.

So sweet

This one is really sweet. The Chocolatier and the Baker come together. The town that can hold and support the two of them.

Sweet and Funny

Such a lovely holiday read.Ms. Pennington gives Ruth and Mason lots of reasons, past and present, to stay apart, but they just can't resist each other. This is a predecessor to Ms. Pennington's romantic comedy writing with lots of funny moments and good romantic tension. A clean read with kisses that spark.

Did someone forget to proofread?

Kinda cute story- on the cheesy side, but that’s ok. What destroyed it was the lack of proofreading! Seriously, did nobody even bother doing a first pass-through on editing? There were missing question marks, question marks where there should have been a period, personal pronouns that were switched around (‘he’ instead of ‘she’, etc.), missing quotation marks, wrong names used (the main man must have been named Micah originally because at one point they referred to Mason as Micah), and in one conversation the leading lady told Mason that she never went to culinary school and then in the same conversation a few paragraphs later he asks if she went to culinary school and she says no and he acts surprised…. It was so awkward trying to figure everything out that it really ruined the reading experience.
