When the past collides with the present, will love and courage be enough to conquer the future?

Elinor Abbott was only 14 years old when she and her father left England for America. Six years later, with war at their doorstep, Elinor Abbott is forced to return to her land of birth and a life amongst the aristocracy she abhors. A return to England also means facing the man who brutally attacked her as an adolescent.

Viscount Easton came to the United States at the behest of His Majesty’s Army, for his last assignment. He was sent home early due to an injury and must face his new destiny as the heir to an earldom. An unexpected encounter with the unrefined beauty links Easton and Elinor together in society, and he must decide whether to save Elinor’s reputation or hold on to bachelorhood.

Can Elinor navigate the perils of coming out in aristocratic England and still retain her sense of identity? Can Easton help her overcome her aversion to men? Or will her past keep her from facing her future?

Emotional read & get the tissues ready.

Aww very good well written and what a Very emotional read, maybe to close to home for some but forgiving heals is what I get from the author. It wasn’t until I started reading the first chapter that i released I have read this before a few years ago when there was no sequel.Enjoyed it as much now as then with tears running down my face.Loved how the the writing draws you in and you feel there pain.I know the Arthur written it about healing but Don’t think I could be so forgiving. Can you imagine having to face someone you trusted? What strength Elly had. I release when I wrote that sentence what strength I had even though nothing as Elly went threw so thank you author.Would of liked to read Elly having the satisfaction of slapping him .Would also of liked to know what made him — change character so much and start taking opium, maybe it’s in the other books will have go to start reading now I’m hooked.

Good...

Elinor Abbott is a modern woman (for the times), with modern views, along with some medical skills acquired from experience, which she puts to use when she has to travel with Viscount Easton back to England. When she arrives in England, the plan is for her to have a coming out season in order to find a husband. However, being back in England means she must face the man who abused her the last time she was here. Eventually, also, her reputation could be ruined because of how she traveled there without a chaperone. In the beginning, the story seemed a bit long, but the action came back when the story was in England. In the end, Elinor was able to get over her abuse just by getting married with Easton, which seems to be quite simplistic as a solution, really.Overall, though, it was a nice story with some good parts sprinkled throughout.

What a great story of sin

What a great story of sin, forgiveness and healing, it can be a difficult subject to read. But well written and no graphic details. The healing with forgiveness makes it a 5 star.

Nicely written, dark romance

While this is a HEA romance, it has some extremely dark parts. The heat level is zero, which fits with the content. Even though it was dark, I enjoyed the plot and the use of side plots to flesh out the story.
