With Jude dead, there’s another opening on the council of guardians and they want Liam to round out the twelve.

But Liam still isn’t convinced that the guardians have Isa’s best interest at heart and not only that, Isa doesn’t want him as a guardian and he doesn’t want to do anything that would anger her.

In the end Pierre convinces him that Isa’s very life is on the line if he doesn’t join.

He agrees and then discovers that the ceremony to become a guardian kills more dragons than it passes.

Will Liam survive?

Amidst all the tragedy and doom and gloom, some major decisions lay ahead for pretty much every character. Some surprising turns of event occur, making me ponder even more who is truly evil and who is just misguided. I’m still very much invested in seeing this to the end. All my reviews are always voluntarily written.

Who will be the next to die?

The heartache continues in this installment of the Chronicles. Another character is dead and those left behind are grieving their loss. Jens and his crew, including the villainous Seamus, have the dragon babies and want to get them to Europe. But, Jens is beginning to realize that his main mission should be killing the Queen. He doesn't want to give up on the babies, but that decision might be out of his control.Ruby is trying to find a way to help Sid recover the babies, but her reasons are very different than his. She just wants to get rid of her dragon. Her classmates have convinced her that is the only way she will get any peace. She is still determined to NOT bond with Damon, but is that even a possibility?Liam is facing a decision of his own and has to decide what is best for him and his goal of protecting Isa. Pierre has offered him a position as a guardian. But, will it be the death of him?The author has created an entertaining world in these books, full of emotion, intrigue and tension. Can't wait for the next book!

More Somber Story

The Dragon Kings Chronicles continues with book thirteen’s installment. For me, this book is more sombre due to the death of Jude in book twelve. The characters who knew him are mourning his loss, especially Grace, and now there is a vacancy in the ranks of the Guardians. The babies have a brief reprieve as Seamus is gone, but can they hope that help will come for them? Things have gone left between Ruby and Damon. Ruby is clinging to the path that she wants her life to take, but when will she realize that fate doesn’t really care and open her eyes to what she has? While this installment of Kimberly Loth’s Dragon Kings Chronicles serial is more sombre, it’s no less engaging. I’m eager for the babies to be rescued, but I’m also wondering why Baden hasn’t been sent back to at least be a discreet spy. I’m ready for Isa to face the truth about Pierre, because things are just too convenient for that man, and her swallowing what he says makes her look foolish. Things are progressing in the right direction in some areas, but I’m ready for things to get intense again. LOL!I’m rating this installment 4.5 out of 5 stars. While Isa is still being stubborn and hard-headed, at least there is some relief from it overall. Ruby is still being duplicitous, but I’m hopeful that she’ll stop being selfish. A decent addition to the series.

A good story

This story continues to be rather disheartening. Pepper and Huey are the only characters that I still enjoy. And while Pepper is good at making herself known, Huey is hardly making any appearances. The rest elicit a feeling of drudgery. I look forward to the future episode which must bring something great. At least there's an inkling of hope toward the end of the episode.Easy-to-read. Entertaining. Haunting. Scary. Tragic. Twisted. Unpredictable. Wonderful characters.I received a review copy of this book from a third party. This is my honest review.

Will Liam survive?

◦ I've received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review ◦My poor Grace is going through hell. When she finally find her happiness its been snatched away and left her emptied. Her beloved Jude is dead and the pain she goes through is really sad. The way she talks about him and the way she thinks on him, is so powerful and heartbreaking. I really loved that Isa left all that anger she had towards Grace and tried to make it right for her to be near her, she showed us that even if she is impulsive and acts crazy beneath all of that spoiled appearance and shallow she’s got a great heart and I really missed having Grace and Isa together again, they’ve got such a beautiful friendship. While some characters grow in my heart, some really don’t. I never liked Pierre and I still don’t, I find him so sketchy and he really has a lot of things to hide – especially since Isa finds out he comes from a very old wizard descendant line. You can’t read Pierre, he’s so mysterious, full of secrets and hidden agenda and really makes me think if he is behind everything that happened to Isa.While Liam is going through the ritual of becoming a guardian, Ruby and Damon are going through more ups than downs. Damon doesn’t want to speak with Ruby unless she decides to be together with him, Ruby doesn’t want to be with him just because of the mark and they go in circles and endless circles. This time I found Damon to be a little bit childish, he hangs around Ruby’s decision so much that he becomes obsessive with them to be together but in the same time, their lack of communication is exactly what brought them into this endless war of love hate situation. Ruby loves him in her own way, but in the same time she can’t express her hatred toward her dragon form, and in the same time Damon really thinks Ruby is the one for him so much that he wants to be a dragon so they can finalize the dragon bond and not have just the mark on their ankles. Their situation is crazy and complicated and the way the book ended – really makes me question Ruby’s real intents and if she break Damon’s heart one more time, I’m going to loose it.
