Juliette is still reeling from her encounters with a zombie. She tries to push the whole experience from her mind and focus wholly on her yoga, but even when she’s in the zone, she can still smell the rot of the zombie or see Samuel’s face. She should just go home and forget this island ever existed, but for some reason she can’t. That means she has to find a job or she’ll be starving soon. When her plans go awry, Samuel offers her a job helping in the hunt for monsters and she reluctantly agrees. But when the new monster turns out to be vampire, she realizes she’s made the biggest mistake of her life…

I'm loving it

It is only book two and I just can't get enough of Juliette and Samuel! Juliette can't seem to get the ghosts of the past out of her head. In this book we encounter a vampire, an obeah, and a resurrected acrobat. Who doesn't want to read more about that?

Loving it!

I am loving this series so far! I’m loving hearing more about Juliette and getting to see Samuel in a different light. Poor Juliette though, she just wanted to find her way in the world and be happy and BAM, more spooky weird stuff. And that ending?! I can’t wait to see what happens next...

Enjoying this series.

Continuing to love getting more Samuel and Juliette.

I particularly enjoyed the look back at the original series from Juliette’s point of view.

Loving the “monster of the week” sort of feel here, it’s like watching episodes of a television series.

Looking forward to the rest of this series.

Overcoming

Book 2 picked up beautifully, with our MC braving through past trauma in order to deal with an equally dangerous possible future. Still on the fence with the reformed bad guy so just goes to show the brilliance of this author. With danger threatening once again, the fate of a child lies in balance, adding yet another intriguing supporting character! So far just an amazing tale! All my reviews are always voluntarily written.

I didn’t see that ending coming

In this book Juliette is still trying to make heads and tails of the island and what it means. Another person is attacked and killed so Juliette and Samuel are investigating a “bear” attack. Juliette is trying to recover from what happened to her back on the island and is pushing her friends away in the process. She reaches out to Callie and gets things off her chest so she can focus.
The ending caught me off guard and I can’t wait to read book 3 and see what happens next.
