The Magical Christmas Cottage

Brought together by a snow storm, Alina and Carter must navigate through their situation with great care. He is back to take care of his grandmother and sell the cottage to pay for her extended care. If the sale goes through Alina will need a new place to stay as his grandmother is her landlord. While sorting through things in the cottage getting it ready to sell they come across his grandparents wedding rings and in a magical turn of events get them stuck in their fingers. It was delightful how things unfolded in this story. More secrets were revealed. I admit this one was harder for me to get fully into but overall I enjoyed it very much. I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book provided by booksprout.

romantic love stories with a tad of history thrown in.

The Magical Christmas Cottage By Aimee O’Brian It is about a young lady named Alina that packed up her car and drove cross-country from California to Rhode Island to be the new docent at the Hazard Historical Society. Being a huge history lover, when the position opened up, she knew this job was for her. She arranged a place to live there with an eccentric old lady named Hazel who lived in another historical building in that area. The Magical Christmas Cottage, or Camellia Cottage, which had a ton of history to it stemming way back to the Civil War. The story talks about when this old lady has a stroke & the grandson Carter comes back to take care of her. How Miss Alina's innocence & love for all things Christmas sparked a newfound love for it in this family. It's a must-read if you're into romantic love stories with a tad of history thrown in.

Emotional, intense, fast paced Christmas Contemporary Romance/Paranormal Romance

The Magical Christmas Cottage is the third title in the Charmed Love series, this time bringing Alina and Carter together in a heartwarming, magical way. Alina has recently accepted a position in Hazard and is renting a room in Hazel’s (president of the historical society) cottage. Hazel suddenly collapses, suffering a stroke, and fortunately, Alina is there to ensure she has immediate medical help. Perhaps, unfortunately, this situation will have Hazel’s grandson, Carter, returning home with plans for Hazel’s future… plans that Alina is certain that the grand lady she met would not approve of.But Carter has reasons of his own, deep, painful reasons as to why there is no way he will remain in Hazard to oversee his grandmother’s care. While somewhat at odds with each other, they will agree to pack up Hazel’s home. One impulsive action, two magical wedding rings, and four opinionated cats are about to change Alina’s and Carter’s worldview dramatically… and perhaps open the way to healing and love for them both.I loved The Magical Christmas Cottage by Aimee O’Brian. It’s full of healing moments, laughter and sad memories, touches of whimsy and magic, and feline shenanigans. And two wounded souls who will find their happiness, their happy ending, in an unexpected forever kind of love. Add in the historical aspects of the town of Hazard, and, of course, the absolute charm of a magical Christmas, rediscovered for them both… and you have a story that pulled at my heartstrings and gave me such a satisfying reading experience. If that sounds like a Christmas Romance you’d enjoy, then Alina and Carter’s story is a perfect fit for you.*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the author or the author’s team via Booksprout, and I sincerely thank them for their trust. The Magical Christmas Cottage

The Magical Christmas Cottage is the third book in Aimee O’Brian’s Charmed Love series. The book is set in the town of Hazard, Rhode Island at Christmas. We meet Alina McAllister who has traveled from California to take a position as a docent for the Hazard Historical Society. Alina has arranged to rent a room in the cottage owned by the president of the historical society, Hazel. She is getting acquainted when Hazel collapses and she calls for an ambulance. Hazel has had a stroke and her grandson Carter Bestwick is called to return to his hometown. Fifteen years earlier at Christmastime, Carter’s parents were killed in a tragic car accident and he moved in with his grandmother. Once he graduated, he left town and never returned. Christmas was never celebrated again by Carter and Hazel. Growing up, Alina was poor and her mother didn’t have the money or time to decorate or celebrate Christmas in a big way. She is hoping now things will change for her.Carter tells Alina his plan is to sell Hazel’s cottage to get money to provide care for her near his home in Arizona. She will need to move out. Alina knows Hazel won’t want to leave her friends or her home in Hazard. He doesn’t believe Alina that his grandmother is improving. The couple decide to clean out some of the excess items in Hazel’s cottage and go through all the heirlooms in the attic. They discover some old wedding bands in a box. Alina convinces Carter to try on the man’s ring and she does the same for the ladies band. The rings get stuck on their fingers and won’t come off. So they end up wearing them, hoping to get them off eventually. The rings are believed to be magical in that the person wearing it can know what the person wearing the other ring is thinking and feeling. Before wearing the ring, Carter was very against Christmas decorations but then he changed and wanted to put up a tree for Alina. She too is trying to understand what will make him happy. Alina is getting to know the other historical society members and learning her scripts about the historical houses she will be working in. As the two spend time together they develop feelings for each other. This is a sweet romance with a couple that both have sadness in their past. Alina has overcome many obstacles and is a very positive person. Carter is dragged down by the tragedy of his parents’ death. I loved the couple together. I enjoyed all the descriptions of the Christmas decorations as well as that of the town of Hazard and the historic homes. The touch of magic with the bands and the hidden passageways connecting the historical homes is a wonderful touch. The four black cats is a fun addition to the book. The connection to the prior two books was done nicely through the characters appearing in this story and the Blessing being said. Aimee has provided the reader with a well written and heartfelt story with genuine characters. This is a five star book I’m happy to recommend.
