In the small town of Hazard, finding your soulmate might require magical intervention. Ivy Wayland has a bet with her sister, who says you can’t have it all—success in business or love, but not both. Since opening her tea shop, Ivy knows where her priorities should be, but she has her heart set on her landlord. All her life, she’s heard the family lore about how their antique cookie press infuses homemade cookies with so much love that the recipient will fall head over heels for the giver. Ivy decides to take the chance. Jaxon Langford is ready to move on. The only thing stopping him from selling up is concern about how some of his small business owners would fare with a greedier landlord. When one of his enthusiastic tenants brings him a tin of delicious-looking cookies, he’s charmed. He takes the cookies to his baseball team’s practice, only to watch them be devoured without getting so much as a bite. Suddenly, Ivy has her pick of the town’s eligible bachelors—except Jaxon. How can she prove her sister wrong and win Jaxon’s heart?

good

I liked and was entertained by this light paranormal story. I struggled with Jaxon, as there seemed to be a disconnect between his thoughts and actions. The reason the town thinks your still hung up on your dead wife is because you haven't even gone on a date with someone (including the girl you really like who everyone else knows likes you). Other than that, I quite liked the story and found it funny at times. Overall, an enjoyable story. * I received an ARC of this book from Tule and this is my voluntary and honest review.

Charming!

A quick read full of funny scenes, delightful characters, and, of course, a bit of magic. I would love to watch this as a Hallmark movie!

Magic and Small Town Romance

What a delicious tale of the owner of a sweet, adorable tea shop, Ivy Wayland, and her adventures of baking magical cookies that seem to have a life of their own.Jaxon is her landlord, owner of the building where her tea shop and her sister's bakery, Holly, reside. Just a delight to read. And I can't wait to read Book 2!

A Touch of Magic

Ivette Wayland is a local business woman in the historical town of Hazard which I assume isn't the one in Kentucky. It is populated by lots of lovely people, at least one mean girl from Ivette's school days and the committee of the Hazard Historical Society who are eccentric and notably active in the community. Our protagonist has a struggling but charming tea shop next door to the bakery run by her bossy older sister in a building owned by Jaxon Langford, widower.Jaxon is the target of Ivette's emotional feelings but it's only a couple of years since he lost his wife and he doesn't seem to be moving on. Apart from that, he's practically perfect in every way. He volunteers with the little league, designed a bandstand for the town park, is an exemplary landlord and of course he owns a cute dog. As you do when you are the romantic interest in a magical realism tale.We enter the story at a point of change for both of them. Jaxon is finally moving on by selling up and taking a job in Boston. It was what his wife wanted to do and somehow Jaxon is now committed to a course of action he had resisted before her death.Ivy is also at a turning point in her life. Her sister is always niggling and finally Ivy gives in and enters a bet that her business will be up by 30% and she will be in a committed relationship by the end of the month.Only how to achieve it. Desperate measures are called for and with the help of a magical recipe handed down from her family and a historical cookie press she usually keeps as a wall ornament in the teashop, Ivy decides to go all out to attract Jaxon. As it usually the case with magic it doesn't go exactly to plan and it's an enjoyable journey as Ivy negotiates the unexpected consequences of her magical cookies on the community.I really enjoyed the developing romance between Jaxon and Ivy, even though we knew Jaxon was on his way out of town, unlike Ivy who through various circumstances remains unaware. The ending was sweet and I liked the hint that there are more magical adventures to come.I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Emotional, intense, fast paced Paranormal Romance

The Magical Tea Shop begins the Charmed Love series with a delightful romance between Ivy, the owner of a tea shop, and Jaxon, a widower, her landlord, and the intended recepient of some magical cookie press cookies that he somehow manages never to get a taste of… so, why then is he suddenly seeing Ivy in a different light or is reconsidering moving away from Hazard? Hmmm.Ivy has been goaded by her older, judgmental sister, Holly, into a bet, one that she is desperate to win for several reasons. Holly claims that one can only have success in either business or love; you need to choose your ultimate goal because both are impossible. Ivy believes that one can have it all, a strong, successful business and the love of your life at your side… and she’s willing to bet on it. But just to hedge that bet just a smidge, she’s taking down the so-called magical cookie press off the wall as decoration and making up a batch of magical cookies (or she hopes) to bring her true love, Jaxon, to her side. It sounded great in theory, might have even worked if Jaxon’s entire baseball team hadn’t gobbled them up before he even got a nibble… or if suddenly her business is thriving with her tea shop filled with magically attracted men. Good for the business, bad for her heart.I had such fun with The Magical Tea Shop by Aimee O’Brian. It’s well-written, witty, funny, emotional, and engaging as we watch Ivy and Jaxon bumble their way into each other’s hearts, with a little bit of magical help to ensure success. Do you believe in magic? It’s hard not to when the shenanigans surrounding this couple lead to changed lives and a well-deserved happy ever after.I own a Kindle edition of this title.
