In the small town of Hazard, the past never stays buried—and love may be the most powerful magic of all. Whitney Hopewell, Hazard’s newly elected mayor and former librarian, is determined to protect the town she loves. When a smooth Boston developer offers a sleek solution to Hazard’s affordable housing crisis, she’s cautiously hopeful. Derrick Cross is charming, intelligent, and undeniably intriguing. Convincing the local innkeeper to rent him a room feels practical. Helping him with his historical research feels personal. But Derrick hasn’t come to Hazard to help. He’s returned to settle a centuries-old score. His family’s downfall is tied to the town’s founding, and transforming Hazard’s quaint charm into soulless urban sprawl is his long-planned revenge. Falling for the woman fighting to save it threatens everything. As Whitney and Derrick grow closer, sensing a deep connection neither can explain, secrets surface. A hidden tunnel, a looming hurricane, and a magical heritage quilt that reveals dreams of true love force them to confront history, heartbreak, and desire. This enchanting small-town, enemies-to-lovers romance weaves family feuds, magical realism, and heartfelt emotion into a story about forgiveness, fate, and choosing love over vengeance.

Best for the Town

I found Whitney and Derrick's story pleasant to read. The book focused more on the history of the town and less on the budding romance. The dialog is both sharp and humorous. The story is organized makes for an interesting read. I just wish there were a few hugs to go with the kisses. This would leave you with a more supported HEA.I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Hazzard's mystical charm

How can you not love a book about a Librarian (and Mayor!) finding love especially as Whitney and Derrick's are just perfect for each other. I really enjoyed this sweet romance which has some good laughs and a bit of friction but also attraction that leaves you satisfied when you get to the end.

Small town romance

Whitney Hopewell is head librarian and newly elected mayor of Hazzard and she inherited a project of naming a firm to build affordable housing in the town. She wants to do the right thing for the town but the bids don't agree with the town and the builder and developer from Boston Derrick Cross is doing everything he can to charm the town and the mayor. When a property that Whitney loves comes up for sale, she discovers Derrick wants it to and things start to get a little complicated in her business and private life.As the two become a little closer they realize that there is a mystical connection to them. Also as the two delve into the real history of Hazzard, can Whitney convince Derrick that the town he does not really like and wants to change has a lot of good qualities and the it's all just history under the tunnels of the town....I like this story and liked Whitney and Derrick has a couple. There was chemistry from the start and the story builds as the two become close. It was a sweet romantic read with lots of humor to make it more enjoyable. The characters are all fun to read and it has what all the books in the series have that magical element that draws the reader in to this unique story.I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Delightful small-town romance.

Whitney Hopewell is a librarian and, now, the mayor of Hazard. She wants to see Hazard progress by building affordable housing, but she doesn’t want to sacrifice its small town’s charm.Derrick Cross, a developer from Boston, wants revenge. His family once lived in Hazard, and he blames the town for the hard times they’ve faced. He intends to get that revenge by destroying the small town quaintness of Hazard. But he needs to work closely with Whitney, and his view of things starts to change. This is a sweet, clean, enemies-to-lovers tale. It’s a story that reminds the reader that love is powerful and it always involves a touch of magic.I enjoyed this book. It’s well written and the characters are delightful. If you enjoy small-town romance sprinkled with a glimmer of magic, I think you’ll enjoy this book as much as I did.I received an advanced reader copy of this book from the publisher, Tule. The Magical Library

The Magical Library is the fourth book in Aimee O’Brian’s Charmed Love series. The book is a sweet and romantic addition to the fabulous series. This story features mayor Whitney Hopewell who also is the head librarian. It is set in Hazard, Rhode Island. At the start of the book we learn there is a quilt show being held at the library with a special “magical” quilt being auctioned off. Supposedly, the person sleeping under it will dream of their true love. Whit had been living in her family’s home, Hopewell Manor, with her step grandmother. She has to move out because the home is undergoing renovations to allow it to be part of the historic home tours in her town. As a result, she moves into the Worthy Inn on the invitation of her friend. Her friend wins the quilt and puts it in the room Whit is staying in. Whit has dreams of a boy she met in a museum when she was young. She is also working with the town council to select a company from the information they’ve provided to build affordable homes in their town.Derrick Cross is in Hazard as representative for one of the companies trying to get the contract for the homes. He initially meets Whit at the library during the quilt show, but has no idea she is the mayor. The two notice some sparks and feel like they’ve met the other person previously. Derrick has strong negative feelings about Hazard because he has been told by his family that the town’s founder stole his ancestor from her intended and ruined their family’s future. He wants to seek revenge by changing the quaint town bringing in ordinary and boring houses and retail chains. Derrick and Whitney spend time together and discover town secrets, family secrets and fight through a hurricane like storm. They develop feelings and the future is uncertain. This is a really sweet romance with lots of surprises and drama. Aimee has created some wonderful characters that have tragic pasts but have grown and become great people. The book is well written and the addition of some magic and historical stories about the town makes it even better. It was enjoyable to see the characters from the previous books be included in this one also. I loved Whitney and Derrick together and especially enjoyed hearing about their ancestors and their part in the town. This is another 5 star book that I am happy to recommend.
