She’s from a rival family. He’s not supposed to like her. Can they make a forbidden romance work?

Adeline Cole is not looking for love. She only returns home to add a horse to her therapeutic riding business. Not to see her family for Thanksgiving and definitely not to meet a cowboy whose kiss takes her breath away.

Clint Ritchie served in the military for twenty years. He should stand proud upon his return home, but shadows from his past haunt him along with an injury. He aims to help save the family ranch and not get back in the saddle.

After a luggage mix up, Adeline convinces Clint to fake a relationship to spare her from having to face her lousy ex. When their stories get tangled, they spend more time together and uncover secrets from the past that might just save the ranch.

Sparks fly, but their families have a long-standing feud. Can they find common ground for a future together?

This is book 3 in the Richie Ranch Clean Cowboy Romance series. Because of the mystery subplot, the first three books in the series are best read in order for a deeper, richer experience. It is a sweet, small-town, cowboy “clean and wholesome” romance that’s Christian faith-friendly without swearing or mature content and contains a happily ever after.

Couldn’t get past some things

I hate to leave a really bad review, but sometimes I just want either the author or editor to make sure some of the things I talk about get caught. Doing a little more research into topics that are not in their wheelhouse is a good thing.**Spoilers**Okay, there were just some things in this book that irritated that just ruined it for me. Mainly because they were easily remedied. The first were the things about Clint. I’m not an expert on all things military, but right from the beginning she said he was wearing his dress blues with his awards and ribbons on the airplane. I can’t imagine when that would happen. In Clint’s situation it is even more unlikely, because he was retired. All the military people I know, wear civvies whenever they can, and if they were flying commercial on duty they would normally be wearing abu’s. Whatever! He, also, said he was last stationed at Fort Benning which is an army base, and seals are Navy. These are easy things to catch; just google Navy seal bases, most seals are stationed in San Diego (Coronado) or Little Creek, Virginia. Sometimes it’s the little things that bother me more than the big. Plus I could never figure out exactly the time line about his injury. Originally you assume he was hurt in combat, but later you learn it was a training accident. But what really caused the initial injury was when he was bucked in a rodeo. Then he went for a training jump and exacerbated that injury. I thought the rodeo injury happened right after high school because his high school sweetheart broke up with him after he lost his leg. But he lost his leg three years before he retired, so I’m not really sure. Was he riding in a rodeo as an active duty seal when he was 33 or 34? Like I said it just doesn’t make sense. And my issues with Amelia were that she was a trained counselor who was highly requested, a woman in her mid thirties, and she didn’t take care of her diabetes well. I mean diabetes can be deadly and she was flippant about when she let her sugar get low. Plus, she was always talking about eating pie and cinnamon rolls. Now I don’t have diabetes, but I’m pretty sure sugar is on the no go list for diabetics. And hers was serious, because it required insulin injections. Another issue with Amelia for me was, in this small town, none of the Ritchie’s seemed to remember her. Sure she left for boarding school at thirteen, but it just seemed odd to me.So like I said, it was hard for me to focus on the story, because there were continuity and substance issues.

Family feud and treasure hunting fun!

Clint and Adeline are from two feuding families yet they are drawn to each other. Can they learn to overcome pride and learn to trust each other? Ellie Hall has given us a wonderful story that includes the feud and treasure hunting as well. I recommend this book to all.
