Marrying him was supposed to be business… not pleasure.

Liam “Dex” Dexter, the world’s hottest surfer, needs American citizenship to qualify for the Olympics. Britta needs enough cash to leave her small-town life behind and finally open her dream coffee shop in LA. Their plan is simple: get married, fake the happily-ever-after, and go their separate ways once their goals are met.

There’s just one tiny problem.

Living together — and sharing a bed — makes it impossible to ignore the sparks between them. The more time they spend pretending, the harder it is to remember that this is just a business arrangement.

But when their carefully crafted deal threatens to become something real, Britta and Dex will have to decide if their dreams are worth more than the unexpected passion pulling them together.

Britta & the Beach Boy is a swoony, slow-burn marriage-of-convenience romantic comedy with laugh-out-loud moments, hot Australian surfers, and just the right amount of heart. While it’s the first book in the Love in LA series, Britta and her family make their debut in the Love in Paradise Valley series. Each book stands alone, but trust me… you’ll want to read them all.

I really loved this book and the characters. It was really well written and had good chemistry between the main characters. As an Aussie the author did a great job getting the slang right for Dex (no cringe moments).

Surfing, Australians and love

Being an Australian I really enjoyed the inclusion of Australian language in this book. To have leading men speak my language was great. Brittany did a great job with the Australian and surfing terms. Neither were overdone or felt patronising.Of course, the central love story was brilliant (as it has been in all her books in the Paradise series). I'll be looking for more of Brittany's books.

Delightful, romantic marriage of convenience romcom with a twist!

What a fun modern marriage of convenience story! I loved this delightful romance between a hottie Australian surfing champion & a cute coffee shop owner from Idaho. With lots of swoony kisses, close proximity, & fake relationship vibes, this delightful romcom kept me turning the pages.Britta Neilsen’s worked tirelessly to take care of her mom & her namesake coffee shop in Paradise Valley, Idaho. After her mother passes away, Britta goes to spend a couple of weeks in L.A. with her cousin while her shop is being renovated. She’s happily surprised to find that the handsome surfer whom she met several months ago is her next door neighbor. While spending time in L.A. she gets to know a fellow coffee barista who offers second chances to those who most need it & falls in love with the shop. She’d like to buy the shop, but it would take a lot of money. When the gorgeous surfer she has a crush on proposes a marriage of convenience & offers to put up the money for the shop, she has to decide if it’s worth the risk to her heart to follow her dreams.Liam “Dex” Dexter is a champion Australian surfer hoping to make the U.S. Olympic team. Unfortunately, he’s lacking one thing, U.S. citizenship. It could take years to become a citizen except if he’s married. When he realizes he could help both his & Britta’s dreams come true, he proposes a marriage in name only. He’s been smitten with Britta from the first & hopes that even though it’s a business arrangement with no kisses or unnecessary affection, he can perhaps turn it into something more.I loved this story! There were so many facets to both Britta’s & Dex’s personalities. I enjoyed that this wasn’t a cookie cutter marriage of convenience story. They both had emotional depth & really communicated their feelings well. There were some definite surprises in this one & I loved the ending where they have to decide if they’re willing to go the distance & make their marriage real.I thoroughly enjoyed this story & am excited to read the next book in the series! Recommend to closed door romcom fans! I received an advanced complimentary copy from the author but also purchased a copy through Kindle Unlimited. All opinions are my own & voluntarily provided.

Loved this insta-spark beachy romcom with heart!

LOVED THIS STORY!!! Britta & the Beach Boy is a sweet beachy romcom with a lot of emotions and heart. I loved the insta-spark of Britta and Dex when they first met, such chemistry! There are some hard things in this story – loss of a parent, pressure of competition, and more – but the author handles it well not skimming over the frustration, hurt, and loss without getting too deep and dark. This is a once in a lifetime love story!!! Added Bonus: You also get to see Britta’s family from the Love in Paradise Valley series throughout.Favorite things about Britta: She loves to help others, she's selfless, she's direct, she's got a bit of sass. She's so supportive of him!Favorite things about Dex: He's Australian! He's light-hearted but can be so insightful. He's respectful and so protective of her!Britta & the Beach Boy is a must read!I received an advanced readers copy and a I am leaving a review voluntarily.

Another satisfying story!

4.5 I really loved this book, but took off half a star because of my mixed feelings about the pacing at the very end. It felt like it ended abruptly. I seriously said, “What?!” out loud when I turned the page and read The End. Thankfully, the epilogue satisfied most of my need for more, about what happened next, with Britta and Dex. Check out the bonus epilogue if you want to see even more of their future. This book was a lot more than fun and romance, though that is definitely included. In fact, it had a lot more depth; diving into serious topics like grief, acceptance, self confidence, and family issues. It nearly brought me to tears several times. I also loved learning about the surfing world and Australian lingo. I enjoyed watching the instant attraction between Britta and Dex lead to so much more as they got to know each other. There were so many great side characters as well. This book is full of heart and is another great book to come from Brittany Larsen. I enjoyed it even more after already reading her Love in Paradise series, in which Britta is introduced. I look forward to the rest of the Love in LA series, and am already curious to know whose story is next!I was thrilled to receive an advanced reader copy, even though life circumstances kept me waiting an extra week to read it. Sigh. But, I basically read it twice because I reread most of it before I wrote my review. lol You know it’s a good book when your plan to “skim” it fails, and you get sucked in and actually read for hours!
