Some mistakes are meant to happen.

When Danica Jordan, daughter of the famous actor Samuel Jordan, gets involved in yet another horrible scandal, her father cuts her off, leaving her stranded and forced to get a—gasp!—CLEANING JOB. If that isn’t bad enough, someone keeps leaking photos of her to the paparazzi. All Dani wants to do is disappear.

Famous football star Austin Scott is staying at the Billionaire Club to recuperate from an injury. When Danica mistakes him for a maintenance man, he doesn’t correct her. He really doesn’t even want to talk to her, but she’s in a bad spot and he ends up helping her. The more time he spends with her, the more he falls for her. Except, she still thinks he’s the maintenance man.

Sometimes the truth is better left alone. That is, until it all comes crashing down around you.

Celebrity romance

I listened to the audiobook free on YouTube. I think the story could be a romcom movie pretty easily. I think the two main characters are likable. Dani is super naive and trusting and it seems like she should be more acquainted with the ways of the world than she is. And the person I blame for that is her father. Good Grief. Why would you allow your child to run wild doing things you disapprove of (even when they aren't fully her fault) and then suddenly cut said child off financially in a foreign land with no way to get home, leaving her homeless, friend and family-less, and totally unprepared to take care of herself? It is bad parenting all along. Yes, she makes some decisions herself but she makes the mistake of choosing the wrong friends, not to be tricked, drugged and splattered on the internet. It just bugs me that her father could only see the worst and not support his daughter. Some real guidance in life would have made all the difference. I would have liked to have had a moment where he sees the error of his ways and makes different choices to actually support his daughter. Okay, rant over...

I was glad to see Dani and Austen get their HEA.

A pampered girl learns about the real world

When Danica wakes up in the Grand Cayman Islands after a night out with her "friends", who by the way are nowhere to be found, and yet another YouTube video showing her alcohol fueled antics, her father has had enough and cuts her off immediately! No credit cards, no private plane back home, nothing, nada, zilch, and he tells her she has to find her own way home. Danica, who's never done housework of any kind gets a job as a maid at the high class resort where she spent the night.
Football star Austin Scott is hiding out at a high class resort to let his knee heal from an injury. Bored out of his mind, he offers to help another renter with a plumbing issue. When Danica runs into him, she mistakes him for a janitor and he doesn't correct her because he figures he'll never see her again. Austin couldn't be more wrong about that assumption.

I wasn't sure how I was going to feel about this book when I first started it. Danica came across as a pampered and spoiled actor's daughter but as the story unfolded I started to really feel for her. Her father didn't seem to pay attention to her unless she got into trouble, she didn't have any real friends--just leaches who use you until they can't and then move on to another rich person, and despite her expensive education, no one had taught her how things worked in the real-world. Even her so called boyfriend had used her to get a part in a movie, then dropped her like it was nothing.

I loved Austin. He could've just left Danica to deal with everything by herself so many times, but he didn't. I was so glad he didn't leave her at the cheap motel--who knows what would've happened to her, because the girl didn't have anything resembling street smarts. I loved when they went to the e bargain store to shop for clothes and found the math t-shirt "Dear Algebra, please stop asking us to find your x. She's never coming back." LOL. I liked how Austin wouldn't let Danica talk bad about herself like saying she was stupid. If it wouldn't have been for him she wouldn't have wanted to see if she could make it on her own. I knew that Austin not telling her he wasn't a janitor was going to come back and bite him in the rear, and it did. Big time! Thankfully he was able to get her to see he wasn't like her former boyfriend.

I didn't understand Danica's father at all. I understood him being upset with her and cutting off her credit cards, etc, but at least get the girl back home to the U.S. first, instead of leaving her stranded with no money or access to any money in a foreign country. I would've liked to have seen more interaction with her father once she got back and starting living on her own. They had some issues to work out and I would've like to have had at least a peek of that. This is a clean romance.

So Good!

This was an excellent read! I love how Dani and Austin met and how she didn't know who he was. I also liked the intrigue of Claire. Great writing and charracters.

Sweet fairy-tale-like romance of lovers caught in the media’s glare

This modern-day fairy tale involves an infamous daughter of a well-known and rich actor and a famous quarterback who find one another in spite of their different backgrounds and obstacles that the paparazzi and rumour mills put in their way. The situation, though unusual, feels realistic and the main characters react in a realistic way to their changed circumstances, making it easy for the readers to believe in their story and root for their developing relationship. An enjoyable and credible fantasy.

Dani and Austin

This story is certainly a case of mistaken identity. So much excitement, so many unusual circumstances, so many twists of fate, so much mystery, stalking, and danger, and of course romance. You won’t want to miss a minute.
