An age-old family feud keeps them apart. Can the spirit of Christmas bring them together?

Francesca Costa is a spontaneous, lively chef who escapes to the mountains to get some space from the demands of her family and job after she loses the lease on her restaurant. She wants to regroup and figure out her next steps. What she doesn’t expect is the bear on the front porch of the family cabin or the bear of a man who comes to her rescue.

Rocky Hawkins is a serious, private mountain man who once had it all: a successful hockey career and heir to the Hawkins family fortune. After his father added a stipulation to his will, he and his brothers went their separate ways, breaking the family apart. He escaped to the mountains to live a quiet life. Then a beautiful woman moves in next door.

She brings him cookies to say thank you for scaring off a bear. It’s the neighborly thing to do. He only resists because the Costa and Hawkins families are not supposed to like each other.

But it’s nearly Christmas. The time of forgiveness, family...and food. She doesn’t want him to be alone and her attempt to reunite them over a meal fails. He just won’t let any sweetness into his life, but he does want her even though she’s not looking for a relationship. They’re not looking for a miracle, but they might just need one.

This is book 5 in the Hawkins Family Romance series. Each book stands alone but reading them in order provides a deeper, richer experience. It is a sweet, “clean and wholesome” romance without swearing or mature content and contains a happily ever after.

A little different but sweet

Frankie was a rather pushy woman. Being fun & outgoing helped to soften her a little, but I have to wonder how she would have been received by a real guy determined to be left alone. However, that leads in to my take on the story - this is a fantasy enemies-to-lovers trope and then a fantasy money's-no-object wedding trip to Italy. It's not particularly believable, the plot & pacing were a smidge choppy, but it's fairly amusing. Knowing that, if fantasy romance is what you're in the mood for, this will satisfy.*Clean romance level: sweet kisses*Religion: brief point where an MC reconciles with God, some mention of parents' Catholicism, wedding with a priest officiating, but the God talk is generically Christian

Costa and Hawkings feud

Absolutely loved this! Mr Grumpy and Miss Can-do meet up, the mountain man aka Yeti and the gorgeous chef who can make food sing. He finally came out of hibernation and reconnected in a big way. She has 6 over-protective brothers who he has to win over and reconnect to his own brothers and take over his inheritance. Totally fun book. Clean.

Interesting Christmas book

Chef Francesca Costa went to the family cabin to get away from things when she lost the lease on her restaurant and couldn’t find another location. Her neighbor in the wild is a wild looking mountain man, Rocky Hawkins. She continues to try to get him to be less grouchy whenever they meet, but he has some unresolved family and personal issues. As they spend time together, they both grow and learn to face the hard things in life. This is an uplifting book about hard times making people better, and learning to forgive and move on.

Sweet, contemporary romance

Romance, sweet, contemporary; series but stand alone readFrankie and Rocky’s story was a fun, sweet fall. Loved both of their histories, the sad and the good. Lovely sweet moments between them, and of course, great family backstories that made for a fun segue into future stories and past novels. Loved the food, the dogs and the town. Perfect fun holiday romance. A little fast for the fall, but it was a lovely read.
