When I convinced my friends to join me in a scheme to play the stock market, it paid off beyond our expectations. Honestly, most days I don’t even remember that I’m a billionaire. But it was big news for my family. In fact, my cousin made me guardian of her son in the event something happened to her.

At face value, it sounds kind of nice.

But I never really knew my cousin.

And I only found out about her decision a week before the kid showed up on my doorstep.

Thankfully, the woman who brought the boy out to me on the plane is willing to stay and be his nanny.

Since all the local daycares have a waiting list, I don’t have the luxury of being picky. Maybe I have reservations about sharing my home with a beautiful woman, but it’s a completely professional relationship.

She’s going to look after the kid.

I’m going to look after my heart.

Interesting romance

I'll start this review with I didn't finish the book, mainly because I struggled to like one of the main protagonists, so I'm not sure if they improve later on but I got to half way and couldn't continue. The premise of the book was nice I liked the down to earth billionaires which act like real people. Loved the character of Scott who was clearly not prepared to be a parents but threw himself into it with all his heart. The character of Whitney on the other hand, was incredibly hard to like. She was possessive, critical and entitled. I appreciate her apprehension of handing beckett off to a stranger but she critiqued Scott instead of helping him and never appreciated the fact that he let a total stranger live in his house.

Believable billionaire scenario

Gentle pace, but still quietly eventful, with friends, family, prayer and lots of reflection from both Scott’s and Whitney’s points of view. Looking forward to the next story and the connections to other characters from previous series.

Passed the test

A good story to start a new series. This is my second time around with Scott, Whitney and Beckett, and it reads as well as the first time I read this book.Thank you Ms Jeffrey for this series. Looking forward to reading more of your books

Good

Wow, that was a beautiful mess to unravel so it all worked out in the end. I thought we would get a bit more on Beckett's speaking issue, but still - all worked out. Really like the friendship group, both male and female, good friends sure make a difference to the quality of life, especially when you are all seeking God's will. A good read.

Unusual and moving romance story

I'll start by saying I read a lot of romance fiction. It's hard to come up with variations on a theme, and new ways of telling a story, and I don't mind that. I also love me the classic billionaire romance situation - mega rich alpha male, exotic locations, beautiful heroine. I rarely review books because even if I've enjoyed reading them they tend not to be too memorable and all blend together after a while - not a bad thing as I said, but comfortable and predictable. This story was completely different and I loved it. The hero and his group of close friends have become billionaires after he did some clever stock market trading - they are all becoming used to their new monied status and are working their old jobs, living their old lives - when suddenly he becomes the guardian of a distant cousin's three year old. The heroine was a friend of the child's mother and has been caring for him for years, and insists on coming with him to his new home, and is eventually made the little boy's nanny. We don't have the usual arrogant male power plays - the characters are very real, and their doubts, feelings and fears are really well drawn. There is a sense of a real relationship developing, it's a very emotional story with unexpected twists and tragedies, just like real life. I loved how the characters were so centred in their faith in God in a really believeable way. I'm excited to read the next books in the series and see how the other character's stories develop.
