a quirky romance

This book has a lot of reviews. you can read them to see what the story is about. I thought they were really good with their descriptions. So, I decided to not waste time telling what the story was about, but instead just say how it affected me. I do not want to discourage anyone from reading the story. Lots of people enjoyed it, so it is just me.

SPOILER -- Don't read if you are going to get upset. I started reading and this one looked promising. I could understand the heroine desperation in looking for a job and for how she got into the deal of being a date for $1,000 for one afternoon. Not bad pay and NO ONE held a gun to her head. Her getting even with him was funny at times especially when he started giving her as good as he got. It was easy to see how they got caught up in events to try and make the aunt happy.

I was okay with it all until the evil; ex came on the scene. Now the description we have of her the first time we meet her she is far from ;classy as the dates he is supposedly dating. She came across as a gold digging tramp - hardly opera material. Didn't like her and didn't see any reason why she had to be introduced. They had enough problems without her. But I decided to keep going. Then she proceeds to embarrass and humiliate him at every turn simply because she THINKS he was messing around with his ex. Did she just ask him what happened? NO, she was just so sure she knew what was happening. From there things went downhill for me. I found that I really didn't like this heroine AT ALL. So, I quit reading. Not going to waste my time when I am not enjoying it.

I was not paid for this review. I am not an author nor do I know one. I am not kin to this writer. I am a reader and this is just my opinion, nothing more, nothing less. 11/23/2021 Amazon came in and edited this review with their own thoughts. So the words are not all mine. Don't remember the story so I can't fix it. Sorry.

Fun story

It’s been a while since I’ve read a book written in third person omniscient point of view, and it took some time to adjust to the POV switching between paragraphs. However, the dramatic tension increases knowing what the various characters are thinking.

The plot skims along with a few twists and turns. There is some character development to add depth to the story, but the book is a light reading experience. The romance is PG.

The writing has a few errors but they can be passed over (sank vs sunk). There are a lot of characters toward the end, but they don’t require much attention. Overall, this is a cute romance.

There are brief references to neglectful parents who struggle with substance use and mental health issues, including suicide.

Wonderful HEA!

What an awesome story!! I loved it.

Madison goes into Jameson Technologies because she is in desperate need of a job and heard that they had an opening. When she meets the CEO Jared, she finds out that in fact he does not need an employee for his company, but he offers to pay her to be his "date" at a family function.

When Madison discovers that Jared lied to her to get her to cooperate, she decides to get even in front of his family.

The next thing you know, his aunt, the woman who raised him is ill and in the hospital. When it doesn't look like she is going to make it, Madison and Jared further their lie by telling everyone they are engaged and will be part of a double wedding with Jared's cousin in two weeks time.

Now everyone is in a rush to plan a wedding and to further aggravate an already icky situation, there is a jealous, conniving ex that attempts ingratiate herself back into Jared's life. When that doesn't work, she ferrets out the truth and attempts to blackmail Jared.

I love these characters!! Madison is so witty. I love the way she can come up with a story or a one liner like its nothing. I've always wished I could do that. I'm the kind that thinks of a snappy comeback a couple of minutes later.

I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who loves a HEA. I couldn't stop reading it!!

Fun Plot Twists

This premise is entertaining from the start and the characters were in danger of coming off as comical cartoons save for Ms. Lieske's excellent writing and choice to make them people of depth.

Madison is wonderfully relatable and I liked her spark of spunk. She has a tendency to let her mouth get carried away when her emotions run high. We've all done that. I love the way she helps Jared to loosen up and heal in unexpected ways.

Jared makes the bigger transformation over the course of the book, going from arrogant to adorable in a want-to-throw-something-at-you way.

There's lots of twists and turns for the romantic reader to keep you guessing where the plot is going to go next, besides the obvious trip to the altar mentioned in the blurb.

Well-written and well emoted, this is a clean read that will have you ready to click buy for the next book in the series.

An accident meant to happen!

Though not terribly original this romance will lift your spirits. Two opposites with troubled childhoods responded in different ways. CEO whose family's continual nagging for him to find a wife drives him to hire a "girlfriend" for his dad's birthday, but backfires when his family loves her (he thinks she is a kook.) He is rude and condescending when no one is looking and she strikes back by announcing their engagement. His family decides they are perfect for each other and get into the act to make sure a wedding takes place. An old girlfriend tries to foil any plans of that sort. Amusing banter is entertaining as she draws him out of his strongly enforced emotional walls to keep out all females based on prior experience. Though circumstances deem otherwise, she always seems to find a reason to hope for a better future but even she has trouble seeing a happy ending for such a web of deception, despite the on again, off again attraction between them. Can they help one another to overcome the baggage that keeps them from entering into satisfying relationships? Enjoyable chick lit and sweet romance to tickle your funny bone, make you smile and elicit a chuckle or two.
