Love this series

In this installment, Callie and Benny pay a visit to Juliette. Her and Samuel are still monster hunting and now her bf gets to get in on the action. Still loving the series. I volunteered to read this book.

Missing something

This part was really short on monsters. The space was filled with moderately interesting drama from both a reunion with characters from the original series and a strange love triangle. I love a good love triangle but this one is odd. There is no chemistry between juliette and Samuel, who I adore. And all we know of Luca is from Juliette thinking how great he is. He feels like he was shoved in just to create this triangle. At any rate I hope the next book gets back to something exciting.

Nice to see some old faces return

Poor Juliet is really struggling to come to terms with what happened in book 5. But a visit from her best pal, Callie and her good food Benny soon perks her up.
Turns out having Callie and Ben visit her was not only good for her emotional wellbeing but for her and the Town's physical wellbeing as the two of them are able to identify the monster currently on the loose. Working together as a team helps Callie and especially Benny realise that Samuel has definitely changed for the best.

Juliet is struggling with her relationship with Luca which is understanding as she's obviously falling for Samuel, something everyone including Callie can see. But Juliet is still denying, for now.....

Leprechauns and Rougarous

"I am not okay." Juliette is struggling with the fact that she had to kill one of her best friends on the island. And her new boyfriend, Luca, is upset because she is keeping secrets from him. But, she can't tell him what is really happening and doesn't know how to make things right with him.

Her best friend, Callie, and boyfriend, Benny, are coming to visit and Juliette is excited to see them. However, how can she break the news to Samuel? After all, he did torture and kill each of them on the Circus of the Dead Island. Juliette is convinced that he is truly trying to make amends for his past, but Benny is yet to be convinced.

During their visit, another dead body is discovered. It seems that this one was killed by a rougarou, a monster that Callie and Benny know all too well. With their help, Samuel and Juliette are able to solve another murder. But, what about next time?

As Benny says when leaving the Island, "I hope you get everything you're looking for and more, doll." Is it Juliette's destiny to be with Luca? Or, is there someone else? I guess I'll have to wait until the next book to find out!

Reunion with Friends

Circus of the Dead Chronicles by Kimberly Loth continues with her sixth installment in this serial that follows Juliette as she begins and continues her new life on a new island with new monsters and a familiar face in Samuel. Juliette is struggling with the death of Serena, but she’s not the only one. The good news is that Benny and her best friend Callie are coming to visit. She’s looking forward to it, but everything isn’t going to be gently falling snow and comforting hot chocolate.
This book’s pace is a lot slower until things get closer to the end. It’s close to Christmas and another murder has occurred. Shockingly it was recorded and the culprit is quickly caught. But does that mean that all is well when it comes to the next full moon? I like that Juliette is able to spend time with Callie and Benny. She is allowed to have some happiness and spend time with friends she’s missed. It appears that things have taken on a sour note with Luca though.
I was a bit disappointed with the slower pace in this installment, but my biggest issue turns out to be Luca. I get Luca’s desire for more openness from Juliette, but he’s being --- over the top a bit. When she and her friends come across a body he gets mad because she doesn’t call him. I honestly can’t take him seriously. I mean...what was he going to do? Show up and “comfort” her? She handled the situation fine, so it seems his insecurities are really taking the forefront.
I enjoyed this book though and I’m choosing to rate this installment 4.5 out of 5 stars. I wasn’t thrilled with the slower pace, but the storyline is still good and I like that the author stays true to finding the monster causing trouble with each book more or less.
