A romance writer out to prove herself. A brooding cowboy who's sworn off love. And a gaggle of matchmakers set on getting them together.

Aspiring romance novelist Trish Meadows still can’t believe her ex ditched her "I finished a book!" celebration for a round of golf. Ready to put her energy into her writing and eager to prove him wrong, Trish jumps at the chance to spend a week at an exclusive romance writer’s retreat on a ranch in Starlight, Wyoming. What could be more inspiring than quiet, starry nights and cowboys?

Wade Holbrook has sworn off ever falling in love. He’s witnessed too much pain and isn’t willing to subject himself to the same fate. But when his grandma decides to host a retreat on their ranch, she asks Wade to be a personal chaperone for one of the romance writers. It’s the first time she’s been excited since they lost Grandpa, so Wade can't crush her spirit by declining.

Too bad nobody warned him about Trish's fiery spirit. With a gaggle of new writer friends turned matchmakers and a retreat itinerary under constant revision, Trish and Wade find themselves spending a lot of time together. Soon they realize that neither is quite what the other expected. But will a week spent on a romantic retreat with a cowboy lead to Trish’s happily ever after? Or will Wade’s lifetime of grief keep their story unfinished?

Predictable read

I almost DNF because the story had few sparks, but plowed on. The plotline is predictable and there are a lot of side characters that do not really move the story along. The main characters are well written and there is much more left unsaid than we received.

FIRST MEETING SHE WAS COVERED IN MUD

Trisha had a dream, and now a goal been met, of getting her first book written. The boyfriend, didn’t think so, and thought the golf game to him was. A friend sent in her name, and she was one of the lucky to go a retreat of writers. She would have the personal escort, the grandson, and a room in the house. Horseback riding, with the handsome cowboy. Will she live down the embarrassment of being covered in mud at their door. Cute story that drew you in and could very well picture them seeing each other the first time,

Predictable Western Romance

Cowboy Western M+W Romance.

Rather a contrived piece has five romance writers spending a week at a dude ranch for a Writer’s Workshop. Triss begins her sojourn wallowing in a mud hole before coming face to face with the cowboy of her dreams. Is her hostess trying to set her up with her grandson? Having just dumped her rather inattentive boyfriend of 6 months Triss is not anxious to risk being bitten again. Wade, of course is the handsome hunk in boots and Stetson who has sworn off women but this specimen is very alluring. There’s even a photo-shoot featuring the writers and 3 cowboy grandsons. And then there’s the cowboy’s German Shepherd, Shadow and even Daphne the horse who both approve. This wouldn’t be a romance if love didn’t find a way.
