Tess had been a Foster Care Scholarship student the Barons had helped get to college. But now she had to get well so she could start working for Cooper. Her Cooper!Working with the Barons was the pull needed to get Tess to come home to Texas. Tess overheard a conversation one morning at breakfast. A multi use project had collapsed downtown, Cooper, Devlin and Grandfather Baron were discussing it when she walked in. They were talking about cutting corners on projects, costing a lot of money, earning bad reputations for companies and people getting hurt. Tess had already started digging into the project and learned the concrete contractor had been “leaving a trail of accidents” behind them, at more than one failed project. More talk ensued. Tessa ended up promising Cooper she would find out as much as she could but try to be careful doing it. Yes was all she would say.Tess was really screwed. The contractor had told her to leave. Here she was standing in a rebar form, standing her ground, while this huge concrete chute moved sideways over head. It was daunting on a good day! Stop she shouted! Cooper appeared out of nowhere, opened the mixer door and pulled the driver from the cab. Tessa almost collapsed on the spot.
