"I have enjoyed books by Cami Checketts for years. I've liked this series a lot, but this installment knocked it out of the park.
I was fascinated and drawn in by Alaric and Grace who are both part of this society. Grace left to attend medical school but knew she would be returning to the island to be their medical professional and marry Prince Bodi. Alaric has been in love with Grace, even when she was promised to his brother but knew he had no chance until Bodi feel in love with Julia in book 1. Alaric never left the island, training and becoming commander of their nation's army and police force, being proficient in current-ish weaponry as well as ancient styles of fighting. To Alaric, strength was expected and required to do what he did, so what happens when he develops a weakness?
