Editorial Reviews

"I loved this first installment of a new series. It's a different take on royalty, no pampered princes or princesses with untold wealth. Our hero is a man who serves his family and island country by looking for ways to support their financial needs. His people are stuck in a Time Warp from their distrust of outsiders combined with their loss of income. Bodi and a brother decide limited and controlled tourism is the way to save their country so they hire a PR company from the US, who send Julia to run it. Adventures, challenges, peril, and hearts ensue." Lolly G.

"What a spine-tingling beginning to a new series!! This book is a modern day fairy tale complete with danger, intrigue, and a love story!! The characters are delightfully developed and you will be on the edge of your seat reading this book. Make this book next on your wish list!!" Susan M.

"Outstanding! What a great book! A small Kingdom needs help with finding ways to support their Country and have hired someone to help them in making a plan. So sweet and romantic with a touch of suspense ending with AA happily ever after." Sue S.

"I love a good book with some suspense. That’s one of the reasons that I love Cami Checketts’ books. I know I’ll get a good plot, great characters and suspense, and that I’ll have a fun afternoon of reading ahead of me.

The idea of the island of Magna, a hidden paradise, is intriguing to me. I loved the way the author had this element in the book. And putting Julia there was a great idea. Her exploring of the island with Prince Bodi was one of my favorite things about this book.

Prince Bodi is the type of guy to ride off in defense of his lady on the royal steed. He really was great. I loved how he looked after Julia and protected her to the best of his ability. And he was there when it mattered most.

Then there’s the whole royal family of Magna. I can see how this whole series will be fun to read. There are so many great characters just waiting to fall in love. I can’t wait to read more!" Cathy from My Book a Day Reviews

Perfect blend of Then and Now

I had been eagerly anticipating this book and series from the time Ms.Checketts discussed in her newsletter wanting to write a romance with historical elements like jousting and sword fighting. I sent a few suggestions of how to believably blend both past and present. What she has created exceeded even my greatest hopes. I had never expected the book to be as immersive as the idea of the island.Unavoidably, the first several chapters contain a LOT of setup for this island kingdom, the people who live there, and the entire reason to try a unique approach to introduce high-end tourism to this tiny island nation. Take your time reading that to avoud confusion as you continue reading. After that, you will be turning pages as fast as you can to keep up with the drama unfolding around Julia and Prince Bodi, and the new tourisn venture. It will keep you on the edge of your seat, with a HEA to enchant the inner princess in all of us.I purchased a copy of this story from Amazon because I had emailed the island's concept to the author from a question in her newsletter and voluntarily chose to share my review.

It was an intriguing story.

I liked the story, but the romance felt a little forced. It was interesting with all of the tension that was created by the dissenters. It was a good story, but I wish that there had been a little bit more with the tension. I also felt a little annoyed with Julia and her ping-ponging back-and-forth about how she felt about Bodie.

2 1/2 - 3 STARS

The book started off great. I’d give the first half 5 STARS. The second half was like a 1. Halfway in it became like a very vanilla B rated hallmark program. It gave new meaning to the word “clean”. Not even a kiss until 84% in. The whole incident after the “Grace” thing was more silly than romantic.I thought I had found a new author but I like more meat in my books.I know this sounds like a bad review but this author is just not for everyone and that’s ok. If you like clean books, if you like hallmark movies, you’ll enjoy this book. The author does seem talented.
