When party girl Catherine Davenport was sent to stay with her cousins for Christmas, she didn’t count on getting stuck with an irritating, antisocial soldier.

Catherine’s stubborn independence leads her from a bad vacation in Lake Tahoe to the middle of an art heist, and she winds up trapped in a cabin. But she’s not the only one hiding, and the wounded Green Beret inside is just as icy as the blizzard that traps them both.

To stay safe and sane in the raging storm, Catherine has to rely on her wits and reluctantly trust the young and handsome soldier, Seth. He in turn slowly warms up to his unwanted houseguest despite his best efforts. Catherine keeps his nightmares at bay, and Seth can see past her masks, and the emotional walls they’ve both put up begin crumbling. But the longer they’re together, the more they start to realize the dangers waiting for them outside are more related than they thought, and the storm—and their growing attraction—is the least of their worries.

I really enjoyed this story.

This is my first book from this author and I really enjoyed it. There was just enough mystery and suspense and sweet, clean romance.

She gets the Guy

This time the heroine gets the right guy. The bad guys take up just a bit of time and plot, and most is characters’ development. Witty turns of phrase help balance the angst.

I recommend this

I actually liked this book better than the first. Definitely not your typical love story. I really enjoyed watching the emotional growth in the characters, and was so pleased by the clarity they gained by the end. It my opinion it ended perfectly and not the way I was expecting which was awesome.

Finding what really matters

Catherine Davenport is a spoiled 17 year old, rich girl "princess" and to say she's unhappy that her father's making her spend Christmas with cousins she hasn't seen in a few years is a HUGE understatement. Getting caught in something beyond her control has her end up in a cabin with a wounded soldier during a snow storm (which means she isn't going anywhere).Catherine is very self-absorbed and irritating until she's stuck in the cabin with Seth, who's dealing with mental trauma in addition to his physical wounds. By the time she's found and rescued she's grown quite a bit emotionally and isn't as self-centered. She's learned to appreciate her cousins who do care about her.It was great to see Lanna, Adam and Matthew again. I read books this one after the series ended so I was surprised that the great Catherine Davenport started out as a spoiled rich girl. I loved how she realized none of her so called friends cared that she hadn't been in touch with them for days, but she had family who truly cared about her. I really like the way the author writes these characters and have enjoyed all the books in the series that I've read so far.I strongly suggest you read Simplicity before reading this one, as Growing Young takes place a couple of years later and has spoilers for Simplicity.

A fun read

One of the best parts was when the couple played chess substituting odd objects for the missing pieces, just to keep their minds off their terrible situation.
