Matthew Davenport isn’t used to being disliked.

Indie Fierro is the first person in a long time who can’t seem to stand him, and that’s driving him crazy. Under normal circumstances he would take the hint and leave the young coffee shop owner alone, but he’s the only thing standing between her and a couple of loan shark goons who have been harassing her, so he keeps coming back day after day and hoping she doesn’t get annoyed with him enough to throw him out.

Stepping away from someone in need is not in his nature.

Protecting Indie’s shop turns into a mission to bring some happiness into her stressful life, and next thing he knows he’s head over heels for her. But until he can convince her to open up to him about what’s really going on in her life, the pair of them could end up deeper in trouble than either of them can get out of again. And Matthew is not one to accept failure as an option.

Simple and beautiful love stories!

Like the rest of her books, they grab your attention and you cant put it down! Thoroughly enjoyed this book as well as the rest if the series. I love that they are all connected even though each book features a different character in the "family."

male perspective

Matthew has been a strong character throughout this series and I’m thrilled he finally got his own book. It was really fun getting a book from the male perspective as the others are all females. I loved how much interaction with the previous characters we got in this book. And our heroine was amazing and all the suspense kept me on the edge of my seat!I received a complimentary copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

Loving this series

A fun addition to the series! I was excited to finally read Matthew's story as he has been one of my favorite characters from the beginning. Feeling lost and a little useless, Matthew stumbles on a coffee shop whose owner, Indie, seems to be entangled in some sort of trouble. Ever the protector, Matthew tries to help but isn't sure if he is helping or making things worse!I love that Dana's books always have an element of mystery and suspense and things. I can never quite predict what is going to happen! Indie is an interesting character that I hope we get to know a little better in future books. I did not enjoy this book as much as the others in the series so far; I would have loved to see Matthew and Indie's relationship develop a little more in the middle of the book. Went a little too quickly from not talking to each other to having Matthew already in love with her. I loved all the cameos from past characters - I love each of them more with every book! All in all, a fun read and will definitely continue reading the series!

Heart of a hero

Matthew’s complicated life gets entangled in the drama of Indie’s financial woes. But just when he thought he had steeped away from being a bodyguard, he jumps back into the fray. Will she let him help her out of a huge mess?Three stars for the confusing, loan shark elements.

Such a fun read!!

By far my favorite of the simple love story series! I love the action and suspense. ♥️ This author did a good job developing characters in addition to recurring characters from past stories. There was a plot twist at the end that I wasn’t expecting. This story was a fun read that I couldn’t put down. I am looking forward to the next book about Lissa! If you haven’t given this series a try, you won’t be disappointed. I struggled with the first one, but they’ve only gotten better since then.
