The Spinster next door...

Grace Morledge is a failure. Or so her father believes, as she is unmarried despite her many advantages. In his mind, Grace must have significant flaws to be a spinster, and something must be done about them. To her mortification, he demands she be fully examined and all her flaws recorded. And the man he chooses is the worst possible candidate of all.

Aubrey Flint, Lord Ingram, has known Grace since childhood, but he never anticipated Lord Trenwick demand he examine her for flaws. How can perfection have faults? Reluctantly, he accepts the assignment and finds far more than he bargained for, as perfection becomes more and more tempting.

Just when you thought you were worth nothing.

Love each of the Spinster Chronicles and this latest one is a worthy addition. Grace & Aubrey's story is a great read. Congratulations to Rebecca Connolly.

Amazing book

Another great book by Rebecca Connolly. I loved the characters of Grace and Aubrey. So endearing. Grace’s Dad is nasty which sets the right backdrop for the story. I love this series and can’t wait for book 5!

Love it, love it, love it.

Connolly doesn’t disappoint. With, humour, a delightful unfolding of a relationship and a group of friends you’d love to be part of. No need for melodramas, excess of sensibility, or gothic mystery. Just wonderful characters, believable dialogue, a great sense of time and place. All wrapped up in great writing.

Great series

Romance - Clean -🥰 plenty of yummy kissing, but nothing moreViolence - NoneLanguage - MildReread - Yes***This is part of a series, and really should be read in order for maximum understanding of each of the SPINSTER characters and their developing stories.***Rebecca Connolly is one of those authors that is a MUST READ for me. I have absolutely loved this series, and this book was no exception. What I love about the series, is how these women band together, and help one another. They all come from different societal ranks, backgrounds, and challenges, yet they all have one thing in common; they are all spinsters. As the series progresses with each book, the spinsters fall in love, and one by one they end up getting married. This does not change the dynamic of their group. In fact, it only strengthens it because now each of their husbands is also looking out for the ladies and their friends. They are all very protective of each other, and their husbands are no exception. This book is Grace's story. She hears all the time about how "perfect" she is. She is beautiful, has impeccable manners, and it is a mystery to everyone why she of all people is still unmarried. There were times in this story that my heart broke for Grace. Her father is a tyrant, and his treatment of his daughter is horrible. I have no doubt that many daughters were only seen as a commodity to be bargained with as many stories bring this to light. Her father even goes on to detail what a disgrace she is to the family because she is unmarried, and he will not have her tarnish their family name any longer. He sets out to discover her flaws so they can be fixed and she can finally be married.Lord Ingram, Aubrey, is so endearing. He too has a difficult time understanding why this beauty that has no since childhood has not been snatched up. The more he gets to know Grace, the more he truly believes she is practically perfect in every way......at least for him.I don't like to give spoilers, but I will say that this is a tender story of friends coming together to help a friend they dearly care about and want to see happy. The author is really good at bringing Grace's struggles to life, and you can feel her distress and sadness.I love Aubrey and the way he is with Grace. He struggles with understanding his own growing feelings for her, but I love when he finally acknowledges and accepts them for what they are.I can't wait to read the next in the series. I highly recommend this, as well as her many other series of books. You will not be disappointed.
