A rebellious queen. A dying king.

Etta once thought she wanted to kill Alexandre. Now, she will do anything to save him.

She never wanted to be a queen, never thought of restoring her long-dead kingdom. Bela is in ruins, destroyed by years of abandonment and a recent battle, but still, it is the only safe place for her people.

La Dame lurks on the border in Dracon, waiting for her revenge.

In Gaule, magic folk are hunted and punished for their Belaen heritage.

The magic folk crave peace.

A trip into Gaule brings Etta face to face with the one person who can destroy her with one simple act: dying.

No longer tied to Alex by magic, his death should mean nothing to her.

As she learns more about who she truly is and the legacy of her family, she’s forced to answer three questions.

Can she save the king of Gaule?

Can he be trusted if she does?

And what will it mean for her people if she finds herself unable to let go of him again?

Editorial Reviews

Masterfully written. I read this one straight through in one sitting. ★★★★★

So much is going on in this book, but it's weaved together in such a beautiful way that it's not disjointed or choppy. It instead, adds to that feeling of urgency, of fear, of uncertainty, and determination. ★★★★★

About the Author

I'm a USA Today Bestselling author of fantasy, contemporary romance, and romantic comedies. Fantasy was my first and forever love with the bestselling "Golden Curse". I love taking old stories and turning them around until they're almost unrecognizable except to the most avid fans. I write books to challenge myself, tackling hard topics or places so different from my own. Studying ancient cultures, architecture, and folklore is one of the best parts of being an author.I've written more than seventy stories full of magic, love, and friendship, and at thirty-three, have no plans to ever stop.

Well written

This is the first series where the second book might actually have been the best. I was expecting La Dame to be the villain throughout. It was still a good read though.

Must read trilogy

I fell in love with this trilogy. Etta is an amazing character who went through so many trials but came out stronger then ever in the end. I laughed and cried with the characters, and I felt for them with every turn of the pages.

An amazing conclusion to Etta and Alex's story!

This was the perfect ending to an amazing series. I loved Etta and Alex's love story. It wasn't always easy for them and they had to go through a lot before finding their way. That's what made it all the more sweeter when they finally figured it out. I loved Tyson, Amalie, Matteo and the others. I especially loved Edmund. He's one of my favorite characters. This book was so well done with the suspense, action, and love scenes. I enjoyed this one as much as the other two and I cannot wait to read more books by M. Lynn!

A great wrap up

This ends the story arch of our main heroine but there are more stories in this world. The story feels well completed and fleshed out beautifully while giving us the fantasy action and love we needed to get

A HEA

I enjoyed reading the end of Etta and Alex's journey. I felt like the end of the book was a bit rushed. There were spots that could have been fleshed out and developed more, but overall, it kept me reading, and I enjoyed the story.
